Biloxi Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

I recently was able to talk my wife (the Boss) into going on an early AM fishing trip. Oh don't get me wrong, she is all about boating, and loves her time on the water. But her favorite real time fishing is off the dock in our backyard for Bass. She loves watching the "Fishing Shows" that I record and is a virtual expert on their content and tactics. So we planned a trip to the Katrina Reef and Back Bay Biloxi for her first time ever "Speckle Trout" fishing trip.

After launching the boat we were on our way. The morning was beautiful and warm with virtually no wind at all. With 50 live shrimp we were off to the Katrina Reef. It took Beth a little while to get the hang of fishing live bait but she soon had it figured out. I had decided that this was going to be her trip so I was treating her like a client and catered to her every need. Unfortunately white trout, croakers, and ground mullet were the only takers of her offerings at first. But then she finally hooked up with a "Speck". She was the happiest person on earth at that moment. Even though the "Speck" was less than legal (about 10"), I had to break out the camera for that first "Speck" photo. She was grinning ear to ear as though she was holding a 10 pounder. Well check off species number one! Next trip she wants to go casting the banks in the Pascagoula Marsh for Reds.

In my opinion there is absolutely no more enjoyable time that you can spend than spending time with family. And spending it on the water is one of the best ways in my book. Sometimes it isn't about the quantity of fish, or the quality of fish, it is about the quality of the time you get to spend with family and friends. Over the years I have also noted that when taking pictures those truly genuine smiles only occur on the "Fish of a Lifetime" on the "First Fish" photos. But come to think about it that first fish is a fish of a life time.

The Katrina Reef is still producing well as is the Keesler Reef. The inshore reefs are productive on the changing tides and trolling the banks of the numerous inshore islands is still good for a Red or two. Beth wants to be worked in for a late September or October Trip focusing on Reds and Flounders. One week in October is already booked. Give us a call and we will book your trip. We will also do our job in helping you make memorable moments with your family and friends.
