Gulfport - Saltwater Fishing Report

The wind has been blowing for a while now, but that isn't that uncommon for this time of year. On those days that it does lay down the islands have been productive for Reds and Spawning Specks.
Now is one of the best times for those opportunist local wade fisherman. Early morning and late evening makes for light to no wind at all. Those willing to get a little sand in their feet, as well as a whole lot wet, can find Spawning Specks feeding in the shallows of our beaches. With a little scouting to find the bait fish, you can be in for some exiting fishing this time of year.
But the best bet for the local boaters is to spend this time learning the backwaters of our local bays and rivers. Though the recent flooding condition have caused their salinities to plunge a bit, it isn't hard to find feeding fish in these waters. Plus it is a great time to be on the water and learn a new area. Black Drum, Flounder, White Trout, Ground Mullet, Specks and Reds can all be located and quickly fill up an ice chest.
