Gulfport - Saltwater Fishing Report

Dog Days of Summer!
It is sure hot. The dog days of summer are upon us. It looks like this high pressure area might leave the Gulf Coast by the end of the week.
The man made reefs are very productive right now you can make a trip and end up with a nice mess of mixed bag fish for the fryer or the freezer.
The new Katrina Reef is very productive in the early AM with specks and the occasional Redfish on live bait, shrimp, pogie, or small croakers. As well as the Taylor Reef near Bay St. Louis.
The white trout are thick as thieves. The old established Keesler Reef is loaded with them. As well as some large Croakers, Ground Mullet, Flounder, and the occasional small Shark.
Most everyone can hold out until about 10-11 AM in this but only the die hard are willing to stay out much longer. Please remember to drink plenty of liquids this time of year. If your Captain asks you if you want something to drink. Take it! Most people don’t think they need hydration and suffer severely for the lack of liquids.
I know this might seem like a health report more than a fishing report, but if it prevents one person from an ER visit due to dehydration or heat stroke it is worth it.
