Horn Islands, Pascagoula, Biloxi Bay, Bay St Louis & Heron Bay

Gulfport - Saltwater Fishing Report

Back Bay Biloxi is on the brink of a FISH Explosion!

Rain, Rain Go Away! And it finally did. But the wind just would not quit! What can I say? I can only take so many days of being off of the water, so today was the day to get back, wind, rain or dirty water was not going to stop me.

I gave Brad a call to see if he was interested in a buddy trip. Brad and his dad, Hal, have chartered with me in the past and I needed a fishing buddy for the day. Brad lives right up the road from me so it was a done deal! Back Bay Biloxi was the destination and exploring some new water was the intended order of business. Gas, Ice, and 100 live shrimp in the live well, we were off!

The wind was still blowing but we were able to find some sheltered water to explore, but to no avail no fish. After a couple of reefs that left us knowing exactly what a cork feels like when it is bobbing in the waves, we headed back in shore to check out the CSX Bridge.

This was the correct choice. In less than 15 minutes 2 Black Drum and 3 Sheepshead are checked into the “Ice Chest Hotel”. The action would peak and pause only to start over again.

Black Drum and Sheepshead are some good eating hard fighting fish. Nothing like a little drag striping to get you adrenaline rushing. And with the occasional Speckle Trout thrown in, that was icing on the cake.

Fall and winter fishing on our Mississippi Gulf Coast is spectacular don’t miss out on this opportunity. Today’s Catch 10 Sheepshead, 4 Black Drum, 3 Speckle Trout, 1 Ground Mullet, and a half dozen throw back specks that did not make the cut.
