Gulfport - Saltwater Fishing Report

Tarpon in our River Estuaries!
Not an every year occurance, but Tarpon have been rolling in several of our River Estuary Systems. Most have been in the 10-15 pound range. Exciting to catch and fun to watch as they do their acrobatics beyond any capabilities of any high wire performer.
Reds and Speckle Trout are further up the Rivers than most years, due to the low rain fall we have received. This has caused the salinity to be at adequate levels, for their liking, further up rivers.
White trout and Ground Mullet are plentiful on the Reefs, with cruising Black Drum at just about any every location, and Flounders are plentiful in the mouths of most bayous and on our numerous flats.
The bird activity as been elevated. Diving/Feeding flocks are plentiful. Feeding on bait balls of menhaden and shrimp. And the Speckle Trout are attacking from underneath. Find the right activity, revealing the right size quarry, and we can fill a limit in no time.
The weather has been perfect! And fishing at an all time HIGH! Fall fishing is fantastic on our Mississippi Gulf Coast.
