Gulfport - Saltwater Fishing Report

Pre-Spring Pattern!

Oh what a difference a week makes. Highs in the upper 60’s / lower 70’s and the Reds are on the flats. This early spring pattern has caused the reds to move into the shallows and shorelines during midday. Water temps have been in the high 50’s / lower 60’s the past several days creating this spring pattern.

The fish are spooky and actually respond to a slower winter retrieve. Flashier blades and spoons have been scaring fish. Live Shrimp, Gulp Shrimp, and most artificial have been producing. Use a slow retrieve with some rod tip action to allow the bait to move vertically through the water and you will be pleased with the results.
