Gulfport - Saltwater Fishing Report

Not much to report this week! Those of us who have ventured out have been very productive around the Islands, Katrina Reef, and near shore reefs with some Specks, White Trout, and the occasional Flounder. But, as you can expect there has been a lot of anxiety over the past storm Gustov as well as worry and anticipation over Ike. Ike looks pretty mean and indifferent as to its path and final destination. Most of us have left our hatches battened down as to not have to prepare yet again, but those of us who trailer our boats have been able go out exploring. Some of the harbors have sustained some damage creating some hidden obstructions in their protected waters, but there are a plethora of launch locations and the remainder of our waters are as pristine as ever and obstruction free. This series of storms will soon pass and it will be full force "Game On" for fishing!
The end of September and the months of October and November will make for some of the finest offshore, inshore, and near shore fishing you can find anywhere. The Reds will be moving in as well as Flounder. Speckle Trout will be in the local river systems feeding / gorging on the remaining schools of menhaden, as long as they last, fattening up for their deep river-hole winter hide outs. This is not a time to sit by idle and think about fishing. This time is the best of the best for pursuing a fish of a life time. The weather will be beautiful and the fish willing participants in your next outing.
Let us book your Fall Fishing trip! Hooked Charters is a family oriented charter service, focusing on affordable fishing for you and your family. We provide near shore fishing on the Mississippi Gulf Coast waters targeting trout, redfish, and flounder.
