Gulfport - Saltwater Fishing Report

Yes, summer in upon us with tomorrow being the first full day of summer, fishing destination are going to be numerous. Though the "Dog Days" are a ways away, it will be warm out there and many anglers will be seeking shade at mid day. This is a great time to be on the water, and the barrier Islands are a prime destination.

The North Shores of Horn, Ship, and Cat are very productive in the early AM. The top water bite is great as well as jigging and popping corks. Small pods of Speckle Trout with lingering Reds can be found and create some non-stop action. The Southern Shore can also produce on those quiet calm days. Pompano, Jack Crevalle, and Mackerel can be hauled in on those optimum days.

This is also the time of the "Birds", many flocks of gulls can be seen pounding the water, diving after balls of bait fish and shrimp. Underneath those diving gulls are usually Trout, and it is a gift you just have to fish. Stealth if the key and fish in the box is the reward.
On those windy days, those days where it is just too uncomfortable for most to go out front, there is Back Bay Biloxi and the Pascagoula River Marsh. Both of these estuaries have their honey holes and man made reefs that produce school Speckle Trout, White Trout, Flounder, Reds, Black Drum, Ground Mullet, and Croakers.

This is a great time of the year and a wonderful time to go fishing. Give us a call and we will set up your next fishing adventure!
