Mississippi Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report

When Roger Dee stepped aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS, and then said he wanted to try the diversity of the waters in south Mississippi, well, it was off to the barrier islands.

Our first stop resulted in a nonstop bite of big "yellow" mouth white trout, and after quickly boating 40 or more it was off to catch something different.
Since my boat is equiped with a 36-volt trolling motor, and carries a shallow draft our next couple of stops would be conducted in shallow water.

Once we got tucked in just out of the surf, Roger hauled in 2 really nice flounders, a black drum, and then had a big redfish just come off not far from the boat.
OK, time to catch another species, and off we went to the grass beds. In merely a foot of water, a bite of big speckled trout greeted us.

Roger quickly boated 4 big trout, one over 25-inches, well over 5-pounds.
Since Roger couldn't keep any fish, my neighbors, family, and I were going to eat good.
Roger had never landed a Florida pompano nor a tripletail, and with a few hours left, well, I had my work cut out for me.
Back on more crystal clear flats, Roger landed 2 really nice Florida pompano, as well as a huge spadefish out of the blue.

Ladyfish were on the flats too, and their high-leaping antics added to the fish catching fun.
Skies were looking dark back toward the mainland, and so a run back inshore in search of a tripletail was underway.
No sooner did we reach some prime area did a beautiful specimen appear on the surface.
A well-placed shrimp was quickly engulfed by the surface basking fish, and soon Roger landed his first tripletail a.k.a. "blackfish".
Roger had a shot at a few more fish but couldn't score, but it was time to head back in to the Biloxi Small Craft Harbor anyway.
Generally, I launch at the D'Iberville Marina, but today I picked Roger up at the Beau Rivage Casino, and launched at the Biloxi Small Craft Harbor just a short distance to the east.
And yes, I do pick up anglers in Biloxi when there is just 1 or 2 of them.
Anyway, Roger, a gracious gentleman, and a hoot to fish with got a great introduction to the diverse fishery we have here in south Mississippi, and he had so much fun he'll be back to fish with me again in October.
Need I say more...let's fish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
