Mississippi Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report

Had TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS booked for Saturday and Sunday, but my lower unit went out on the way to the fishing grounds on Saturday and had to scrap that trip. Was really looking forward to the white trout trip with Don Sipp, a regular aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS, but sometimes thing just happen out of our control.

However, had the boat in Crown Leisure Marine by 9:30, and by 12:30 Philip Bond had a brand new lower unit and stainless prop back on the boat ready to go. Thank God it was still under warranty!
On Sunday had Jim and Pam Gathright back aboard TBC for another round of fishing, and the storms lingering in the Gulf of Mexico and Mississippi Sound kept us inshore.

But that didn't keep the Gathrights from catching a fine mess of fish. Heck, on a short morning outing they boxed 2 beautiful redfish, 3 big sheepshead, 10 or so black drum, a nice speck, plenty of croakers, and a couple of white trout.
A number of fish including redfish and speckled trout just under the slot limit were safely released, and they lost a huge redfish at boat side. In all, a nice morning trip merely 5 minutes from the D'Iberville Marina launch.

It was good to see the big sheepshead moving back into the bay from their offshore spawn, puppy drum biting again, and plenty of redfish showing up around the bridges.
To date, fishing has been good the entire year, and June should deliver more excellents catches from a multitude of species.
Regard and many thanks to all,
Capt. Robert L. Brodie of TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS
