Biloxi Mississippi Gulf Coast Fishing Pompano Are In!

Capt. Robert L. Brodie
June 23, 2009
Mississippi Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report

Two of my last 3 trips were to the barrier islands, and on Saturday my clients Travis Baugh, Aaron Milner, Kyle Holton and Mike McFarland had a blast.

We were in search of Florida pompano, and through their hard efforts they boated 10 of the delicious and hard fighting fish.

Of course plenty of toothy bluefish, high-leaping ladyfish, catfish, blue runners, big stingrays, and bonnethead sharks added to the non stop fish catching fun.

On Sunday, my clients were Steve Severson, his wife Kay, their two children Lyn-Holli and Christian, as well as Kay's father Randy Camp.

Due to windy condition I took the kids well into Davis Bayou in a deep and secluded bend, and there 35 or so really nice white trout and a fine speckled trout were boxed.

Around noon the winds settled, and a quick run to the barrier islands led to a quick boxing of 5 Florida pompano, and all of the other bonus fish that provide light tackle fun.

One of the 5 literally jumped right into the boat, and the group got a kick out of that. A few nice pomps were lost, but it's all part of the game.

On Monday, another windy morning, my clients Van Hall and his wife Jana managed to land 6 flounder, 4 of which we kept, a nice slot redfish, a throwback redfish, as well as a few white trout and ground mullet.

Wanted to get Van to the barrier islands for some pompano action, but once again it was blowing hard out of the northwest. By the time we had a break in the wind the morning trip was over. What strange weather we are having!

Hey, there are plenty of fish out there to be caught despite this horrendous heat, so give me a call and we'll go catch a mess.
