Biloxi, Misssippi Fishing - White Trout, Tripletail & Flounder

Mississippi Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report

On Saturday my clients were a wonderful family group consisting of Susan McLauchlin, Dustin McLauchlin, Jeff McLauchlin, and Daniel McLauchlin.

With Dustin being 3-year of age, and the winds blowing pretty good, well, I opted to fish in close today.

Oh yeah, it was hard not running to the islands to chase more redfish and Florida pompano, but with such a young child it's best to play it safe.

However, my group fished hard, and in the end were rewarded with a fine catch of delicious fish.

Moved about a bit to find the tasty bottom dwellers, but the last stop resulted in a good catch of the big "yellow mouth" white trout, and the anglers easily boxed 60 nice fish. A big fish fry was in their future!

Young Dustin caught a 12.5 inch flounder too, and he was so excited. It's so enjoyable to see young anglers have a great time!

However, the highlight of the adventure came when Daniel managed to land a beautiful 4.5 pound tripletail from under a piece of floating marsh grass.

Hey, a tripletail a.k.a. "blackfish" is always a great bonus catch, and that was the first tripletail of 2009 put aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS.

By the way, these fish are moving in, and I need a couple of hard core anglers to book all day trips in search of these mysterous and delicious fish.

Anyway, on this short trip their final tally was 60 plump white trout and ground mullet, 1 12.5 inch flounder, and a 4.5 pound tripletail. Not a bad little catch for another day of wind and turbid water.

Hopefull this weather will straighten out soon. Right now I am booked Wednesday and Saturday, and hope to get back to the barrier islands in search of more redfish and Florida pompano.

Until next report keep it safe out there and good fishing.

Regards,
Capt. Robert L. Brodie of TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS

Mississippi Sound Fishing Forecast:

Folks everything is starting to bite here in south Mississippi.

A big influx of sargassum grass has brought in plenty of tripletail, and redfish and Florida pompano are prowling the shallw flats out at the barrier islands.

Our nearshore reefs are loaded with white trout and ground mullet, and speckled trout are heading out to those same reefs too. Bluefish and Spanish mackerel are patrolling the barrier island's surf, and a few cobia are out there too.

Bottom line, plenty of fish to try for...it's wide open!

Target Species:

Florida pompano, redfish, white trout, ground mullet, tripletail, specks, bluefish, Spanish mackerel
