Mississippi Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report

Yesterday I had the extreme pleasure to fish with a group of local businessmen, and it turned out to be a wonderful day on the Mississippi Sound.

My group of professionals consisted of Dalton McGuire (Builder), Eric Brown (Banker), Mark Orgler (Lawyer), and John Baxter (Banker).

Our day started off slow, but these gentlemen fished hard, and by the end of the day had a ice chest full of tasty sand sea trout a.k.a. "white trout" , southern kingfish a.k.a. "ground mullet", and a couple of speckled trout.

In the end, a final tally of 150 edible fish was the outcome. Man...did they have fun pulling in one fish after another, keeping me busy over the live well, and baiting them up with squid, shrimp, and cut bait.
Also, they enjoyed fighting a number of small sharks, gafftopsail catfish, and stingrays, all great fun on 10-pound-test Yo-Zuri Hybrid line. Our rigs were simple, consisting of 25-pound-test Seaguar Fluorocarbon leader material, 1/0 Gamakatsu Octopus Hooks, and 1/2 to 1-ounce bank sinkers.
Yes, the white trout and ground mullet bite on the reefs of the Mississippi Sound are still strong as ever, and make for great family oriented fishing too. The new 2170 Blazer Bay is a dream to fish out of, and is ideal for my sort of angling.
Saw a nice tripletail too, but he spooked, and never came back up. But that's what I've been wanting to see, and we'll catch a number of those unique fish this summer too.
And don't forget, I am fully licensed for Louisiana marsh fishing trips for specks and reds too, so please keep that in mind as well. On TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS you'll be fishing with St. Croix "Triumph" rods, and Shimano spinning reel, all quality tackle.
Regards,
Capt. Robert L. Brodie of TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS
