Mississippi Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report

Yeah that's right...wind, rain, and cold weather has been keeping the TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS faithful on the mainland, and heck, I can't blame them one bit.

Two week ago it was excellent black drum and sheepshead fishing, with a catch and release of over 180 fish in 3 days, but then the rain got worse and really flushed fish out of the bay.
However, people are already booking trips in May and June, thinking past this crazy winter weather, and that's a good sign of another banner season of fishing aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS.
Did a couple of buddy trips lately, and one was down to Graveline Bayou where we caught 2 big sheepshead, 2 nice flounders, 15 redfish (2 were keepers), and plenty of small specks with a couple of keepers.
Ran out and fished the Back Bay of Biloxi today for a short while, I like to test the waters from time to time, and did manage to catch a really nice redfish (my supper tonight), and a few sheepshead. Did not take along any live shrimp, and only had some old stuff left from previous trips.
But I am ready to go at the drop of the hat if you're game to fish in these extreme conditions. Hey, you don't catch fish sitting at home on the couch!

If you couldn't make it for the 2009-2010 season, be sure to book your duck hunting trip for the early part of the 2010-2011 season. Remember..."At TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS It's About The Bite & The Flight!". Photos by Capt. Robert L. Brodie
Anyway,I am extremely excited about the upcoming season, and can't wait until those fish-filled warm summer days are upon us.
Hordes of sand sea trout "white trout" and southern kingfish "ground mullet", Florida pompano and big reds prowling the barrier islands flats, big sow speckled trout during the full moon, and those amazing tripletail basking under crap trap corks, just to name some of the adventures to come.
I know we can't control the weather, but if you have limited days to book trips this summer I would highly recommend booking your trip in advance just to be on the safe side.
By the way, in Mississippi we now have a limit on tripletail with an 18-inch minimum (about a 4 to 5-pound fish), and 3 fish per angler.
There is even talk of possibly letting us take 1 redfish per angler in federal waters, and that would be a good thing too. That would allow us to run out to the big schools outside the 3-mile line outside the barrier islands and take a fish out of the massive schools.
Also, I have a couple of articles coming out in the Mississippi/Louisiana Game & Fish Magazine, a drum, sheepshead, and redfish article in the March issue, as well as one on fishing Isle au Pitre in LA waters in the June issue.
Plus, I have a Florida pompano article coming out in the Spring issue of Harold Wells Gulf Coast Fisherman too. Hope you enjoy them!
So come and fish with me when you get a chance, as usual I'll be ready.
Regards and many thanks to all,
