Mississippi Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report

Ran a trip the day after Thanksgiving with one of my regular clients, John Noel from Jackson, MS. John fishes aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS once and sometimes twice a month, and we've enjoyed may epic catches together over the years.

Anglers like John aren't considered just clients, but a good friend, someone you get to know and like after many fun outings on the water.

However, on this outing the bite would be somewhat slow, but as usual, John, the good angler he is fished patiently, and was once again rewarded with a nice catch of bay dwellers.
With the bite of late being good on redfish, black drum, and hefty sheepshead in the Back Bay of Biloxi, merely minutes from the launch at the D'Iberville Marina, well, John wanted a shot at the redfish.
And just like last Sunday and Monday with the Jim Underwood group it was back to vertical jigging a live shrimp impaled on a plain jig head.
By no means was the bite hot, but the jigging paid off, and John was rewarded with his 3 fish limit of fine redfish. Oh, he was pleased with the redfish, but after 2 nice flounders came aboard, one of his favorite eating fish, well, he was even more thrilled.
Continued to fish various structure, and 12 hefty sheepshead, and 7 black drum were introduced to the ice chest, and kept the rods bent for most of the day.
In all, a nice one man's catch coming from the Back Bay of Biloxi's fish-filled waters.
On the following day I picked up a last minute afternoon trip, and I had two young guys from Louisiana ready to fish. Started out at the mouth of the bay at noon, and it didn't take long to figure out the bite just wasn't going to happen.
When dropping down the lively shrimp in the concrete jungle below, and then not even getting the grunts, pinfish, and croakers attacking the crustaceans, well, something was truly out of wack. The tides were funky, and the bite was simply dead.
From there decided to burn some fuel and run all the way out to the barrier islands to the deep-water white trout haunts. There, a slow bite was in hand too, but they managed to box about 40 or so white trout and ground mullet.
Ran back into the bay right before dark, and at one of my favorite holes the guys landed a fine flounder, a nice sheepshead, and a couple of black drum.
It was easy to see the bite was just turning on as the sun was setting, but it was time to get back to the D'Iberville Marina and get their fish cleaned and packaged up.
The good news is that the tides for December look great, and that should get the hot fishing kick started once again.
I've got the big redfish lined up at the barrier islands, but need good weather to hammer them.

Above: More barrier island and bay redfish recently caught aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS.
Regards and many thanks to all,
