Biloxi, MS - Nice Catches Continue Despite Poor Conditions

Capt. Robert L. Brodie
April 10, 2009
Mississippi Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report

THURSDAY, April 9, 2009 - Ran a trip yesterday with four kids (Paige, Will, and Daniel Severson of Nashville, TN, and Anna Trevo of Finland) aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS, and man did they have a great time.

Just a 5 minute run from the dock and the youngsters were hauling in the white trout, ground mullet, and a fine flounder.

There, they boxed over 70 of the tasty bottom dwellers. Made a stop in the Back Bay of Biloxi, and there Daniel hooked, landed, and released a 30-pound-class black drum.

A fine sheepshead, a few big ground mullet, as well as another small black drum was added to the catch. In all, a fun morning of fishing in south Mississippi, and a bunch of happy young anglers.

FRIDAY, April 10, 2009 - Today booked a last minute trip with Schyler Trankler of Oran, MO, Rich Howard and his son Nick of Alhembre, Illinois.

Winds finally settled a bit, and back on the reef the gentlemen began to hammer the white trout and ground mullet. Three beautiful flounders were introduced to the live well too. Nick hooked, fought, and landed a fine black drum in the 25-pound-class too.

However, the highlight of the trip came when Nick hooked into a monster fish, and after 30 minutes or so it came to the surface. Well, to our suprise it was an immense jack crevalle well over 30-pounds.

In all, he fought the fish for over 40 minutes, and had it to boatside numerous times before the light line snapped. Back in the bay Nick added another small black drum to the mix.

These were more great clients, and they followed me back home where I cleaned them a mess of trout and the 3 nice flounders.

Things are looking up, and once this weather settles look for our our catches to get better and better. But in the mean time, we are still catching a box full of fish on our outings.

Heck, I won't know what to do in calm seas and clear water...just kidding...we'll just continue to have non stop fish catching fun.

Regards,
