Mississippi Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report

The shallows were crystal clear. You would have thought you were in the Bahamas. However, this piece of gorgeous watery real estate was merely 11-miles south of Mississippi's mainland.

Today was a group of charter boats hired by Chiquita to take their clients fishing, and I opted to take them on a run from Gulfport to Ship Island in search of Florida pompano.

Once we reached those gin-clear waters it was evident the bite was on. No sooner did a bait hit the water, and BAM, a pompano was peeling line and jumping wildly. Game on!
My clients were Larry Verdelli, Quincy Adams, Rachael Adams, and Thomas Atkins, a wonderful group of anglers. They fished hard, and were in awe of the magnificent scenery surrounding them.
In the shallows, bull sharks, sting rays, starfish, mullet, and dolphin kept them focused on their surroundings.
I have to say everyone caught one of those beautiful exotic fish, but Thomas seenmd to have the hot hand, and boated 5 on his own. Of course they all were kept entertained by the hard pulling and high-leaping ladyfish, all part of the skinny water show.
When the bite shut down they had 9 really nice Florida pompano milling about the live well, and best of all they gave me the delicious fish. Will be back out somewhere tomorrow, and will report back then.
If it has a tail we catch it at TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS!
