Mississippi Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report

BLACK DRUM, SHEEPSHEAD, FLOUNDER, & REDFISH SAVE THE DAY!
Sorry about the late report for I have been busy free lancing an article for Mississippi Sportsman, an indepth story on catching Florida pompano in south Mississippi.
Last Sunday I had the pleasure to guide brothers Kenny and Allen Honek of Tabor, MN as well as Russ Jarvis of Barker, NY to a day of fishing from the Back Bay of Biloxi to Ship Island and back.

It was tough fishing to say the least, a full moon and the latest cold snap shut down the bite quite suddenly.

However, by fishing hard and consistently, these three military men managed to boat 5 sheepshead, 4 black drum, a nice flounder, and a throw back redfish.

Not a banner day considering we had nice weather, but the guys had a blast, and it was evident by the awsome e-mail regarding the trip.
Check it out on my web site www.teambrodiecharters.com.
All of the big schools of reds and black drum weren't on the barrier island's bars like two week before, so a trip to the pier and some sneaky fishing fooled drum, sheepshead, and a red.
Have a trip tomorrow, as well as on Thursday and Friday with the same client, and hope to report back then with a decent catch.
By the way, Kenny, Allen and Russ were extremely polite and fun guys to spend a day on the water with, and will be coming back in late August or early September for some hot fishing action.
Just passed over the Back Bay of Biloxi Bridge, and the water looked fresh, so I'll be fishing at the mouth of the bay, Deer Island, or the barrier islands if the wind should settle.
Until next report keep it safe out there and book your trip in advance for March and April are already filling up. Most of these are satesfied comeback clients from last summer, so get you name on the books now.
By mid March the big spring run of sand sea trout a.k.a. "white trout" and southern kingfish a.k.a. "ground mullet" will be pushing into the Mississippi Sound by the millions, and that's top-notch light tackle fishing fun.
Be sure to get the kids in on this action. Last season literally thousands of these fine eating fish were boated aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS, and it should be another great year.
Remember, to date, there are no size or number limits on either of these species. So be sure to get in on this great fishery!
