Capt. Robert L. Brodie

Mississippi Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report

Today I had Kevin Close of Texas aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS, and once again we had to fish in cold and rough conditions, as well as muddy water.

Fished a number of spots before we ended up at the Katrina Reef, and there a bite turned on with white trout and ground mullet.

The water was so rough and churned it was a wonder anything could find the bait on the bottom, but Kevin managed to boat 20 or so of the tasty fish.

However, the highlight of the trip came when Kevin hooked into a huge redfish that cut him off on the rocks, and then a while later hooked into another brute.

Picked up the anchor this time and followed the big fish in the rough seas for a half a mile from the reef before the big red was netted.

On 10-pound-test Yo-Zuri Hybrid line and a 7-foot St. Croix "Triumph" Rod, well, Kevin had a blast battling the big fish in rough seas.

Yes...it was a tough day on the water, but once again a big fish addeded excitement to the trip, and saved the day.

Fish are out there folks we just need the winds to settle, and all sorts of fish will be filling the ice chests.

Mississippi Sound Fishing Forecast:

As soon as the weather clears look for TRIPLETAIL in the Mississippi Sound, and WHITE TROUT and GROUND MULLET swarming all of the coastal rubble and oyster reefs.

FLORIDA POMPANO, a speciality of TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS, will be showing up at the isles too, as well as the BULL REDFISH that are generally out there year round.

SPECKLED TROUT will be patrolling the Mississippi Sound and barrier island's surf and grass beds too, and COBIA will be cruising the isle's bars also.

Of course the big BLACK DRUM will be lurking in the Back Bay of Biloxi as always, "Big Game" of the bay on light tackle.

Target Species:

white trout, redfish, Florida pompano, speckled trout, flounder, black drum
