Biloxi, MS - Three Days Of Hot Inshore Light Tackle Action!

Capt. Robert L. Brodie
October 15, 2008
Mississippi Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report

FISH...FISH...AND MORE FISH!

Sorry that it has been a while since I posted. I've been really busy!

However, I ran the last three days in a row, and our success rate has been excellent.

Day 1 - Monday - Took Richard Murphy and Andy Sanders out to a local inshore reef merely 5 minutes from the D'Iberville Marina launch.

There, the two men proceeded to hammer the white trout using popping corks and mostly live shrimp. What fun, a fish on every cast!

When the smoke finally cleared the duo boxed 121 white trout, and 4 nice speckled trout. But that wasn't all, for we stopped at one of my favorite drum holes, and there the men landed 5 nice black drum to end the day.

The beauty of this fishing was that we caught the fish on an extremely windy day, and within a skip, hop and a jump from the launch.

Final tally: 121 white trout, 4 specks, and 5 black drum.

Day 2: - Tuesday - On this trip I had the pleasure to guide accomplished outdoor writer Jill Easton and her husband Jim Spencer, an accomplished outdoor book writer .

Back to the same area, and the fish were turned on as ever. Cast after cast the popping corks took the plunge, and nice white trout were delivered to the ice chest, as well as 4 nice speckled trout.

What great fun once again, and when the bite slowed down they had boated 115 white trout and 4 specks.

From there we fished a flock of near by birds, and there a brute of a bull redfish smashed a Yo-Zuri Crustal Minnow. The big fish was netted, held for pics, and then released to spawn and fight another day.

Stopped back at the black drum hole in the Back Bay of Biloxi on the way in, and there the couple laid the smack on 12 black drum.

Final tally: 115 white trout, 12 black drum, 4 nice specks, and 1 big bull redfish.

Jim and Jill followed me home where we together cleaned all the fish for their trip back to Arkansas.

Jim even gave me a signed copy of his new book "Turkey Hunters Digest", a must for any serious turkey hunter.

Day 3 - Wednesday - Today took locals Andy and Gary back to the same honeyholes, and once again they were introduced to a fabulous moring of light tackle angling.

When the bite slowed the men boxed 148 white trout and 3 nice specks. Plus, a stop at the drum hole produced 5 nice black drum, as well as 6 large spots.

What can I say? Three wonderful days of non stop light tackle fish catching action. Hey, they are there for the taking so come and get your share.

Yes, I have been quite busy, but that's a good thing!
