BILOXI,MS FISHING & DUCK HUNTING

Capt. Robert L. Brodie
January 5, 2010
Mississippi Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report

BLUEBILLS, BUFFLEHEADS,& A DRAKE REDHEAD PROVIDED LIMITED ACTION ON WEEKEND HUNTS!

Had guided hunts on Saturday and Sunday, and although we bagged 12 ducks, well, the birds just weren't on the move in any large numbers.

On the first day I had Jay Robinson and Jim Boyle, and we managed to bag 6 ducks, and missed out on a few opportunities, but it was slow going despite a nice north wind.

Jim missed a big drake canvasback too, and we gave him a hard time for two days regarding that incident. However, it was all in fun and gave us plenty of laughs and jokes for the weekend.

On the second day it was much of the same, not a lot of birds on the move, and the guys were extremely cold.

When the hunt ended they bagged a drake redhead, as well as 5 buffleheads, of which 3 were beautiful drakes. A couple of those birds will end up as trophy mounts.

It may have been the "blue moon" effecting the birds movement during that period. Those nights were extremely bright, and the birds mave have been feeding at night, and then rafting up during the day.

Hopefull this cold weather will bring down some new birds, and looking forward to getting in some more hunts next week.

The salinity in the Back Bay of Biloxi is back up to 17ppt, and that's a good sign too. Will be willing to run a few guided trips as soon as this really cold weather pushes through.

Hopefully the fish will push back up into the bays, bayous and rivers now that the salinity levels are going back up. Hey, you don't know until you go!

Hope everyone braces for this cold weather it's going to be a cold week.

PS: Please keep Capt. Steve West of the charter boat Mr. Champ in your prayers. Recently Steve had a severe stroke while deer hunting, and is in serious condition. Last word today he was taken off life support breathing on his own, is doing much better, and doctors think he will have a slow but good recovery.

Regards and many thanks to all,
Capt. Robert L. Brodie of TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS
