Capt. Robert L. Brodie
October 15, 2009
Mississippi Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report

Just finished up 6 out of the last 7 days on the water here in beautiful south Mississippi, and the inshore and barrier island light tackle fishing has been excellent.

In the bay, 75 black drum and plenty of white trout were landed during the first three trips. Caught and released a number of small reds too.

During the second 3 trips, well, it was hammer time on the Florida pompano once again, and caught 25 pomps, a bull redfish, and 3 big black drun on the first trip.

On the next trip 16 big Florida pompano were easily landed, and we left them biting around 11 am.

By the way, you won't see many pics of the pompano because I was hired to bring most of them in alive for research. But man was if fun getting paid to battle those tremendous fighting fish.

On the third trip, another short outing, a fine catch of 10 pompano and a beautiful bull redfish ended the morning trip.

By the way, the pompano are still running great, but we'll have to see what this cold front will do to them. However, it should get large numbers of bull reds and black drum prowling on the barrier island's shallow flats. A few are starting to show now!

When those big brutes show in numbers get ready for some top-notch light tackle sight-fishing. Oh yeah, plenty of bluefish and ladyfish are still swarming the isle's shallows too.

Remember, cooler weather makes for comfortable fishing, so be sure to get in on this nice fall weather angling aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS.

Regards and many thanks to all,
