Mississippi Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report

Ran trips on Friday and Saturday, and both were geared around catching Florida pompano.

On Friday, Dr, Keith Goodfellow was aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS, and he wanted to catch his first Florida pompano.
Well, he came to the right captain, and before the morning was over the good doctor managed to land 9 beautiful specimens. He lost a really big fish on the prop too, but that's pompano fishing.

Keith's first pompano were boated...mission accomplished!
On Saturday, a father and son duo consisting of Jay Mitchell and his father Clark scheduled a last minute trip.

Man did they make a good call! When the morning was over this pair of anglers put 12 gorgeous pompano in the ice chest, as well as 3 nice Spanish mackerel.

By the way, on all of these trips the action was non stop due to the great numbers of ladyfish and bluefish that prowl these bars with the pomps.

It's catching and/or releasing fish one after another, but the clients never get bored from lack of action.
So there you have it...the pompano are in, and it should only gett better and better from here on out.

Will fish them hard as I can as long as people want to experience the fun of catching these silver-hued speed demons of the barrier island's flats.
By the way, there are no limits on Florida pompano in Mississippi waters, and they are considered one of the finest eating fish on the planet.
Enough said! Let's go catch some pompano!

Mississippi Sound Fishing Forecast:

Florida pompano is one of my specialities and now is the time to fish for them.
Inshore reefs have plenty of white trout, ground mullet, flounders, as well as some speckled trout and redfish.
Spanish mackerel are prowling the waters surrounding the barrier islands, and some big speckled trout and redfish are in the same vicinity.
Tripletail are still being caught in the Mississippi Sound too.
Bottom line, most everything is biting!
Target Species:

Florida pompano, Spanish mackerel, white trout, speckled trout, redfish, sharks, flounders
