Mississippi Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report

Today proved to be an epic trip when it comes to catching Florida pompano in south Mississippi.

My clients today were Scottie Ellison, Mark Wilcox, and Brad Bynum from Alabama, and these three gentlemen enjoyed catching some big specks, as well as a box full of delicious pompano at Mississippi's barrier islands.

Started the morning off at the Katrina Reef in the Mississippi Sound where they proceeded to land 6 big specks, and missed a few huge specimens too.

From there we ran to the barrier islands where the men enjoyed some of the finest pompano fishing imaginable. The hot bite started out immediately, and soon the men were reeling them in one after another.

Of course there were big high-leaping ladyfish and bluefish in the mix, and they added to the nonstop fish catching excitement. Bull sharks and giant stingrays prowled the shallows around the boat too, and added color to our gin-clear shallow water surroundings.

Eventually the Alabama boys got out of the boat and sight fished the pompano in 1 to 2-feet of water, and the men got good at it. Soon they filled their pockets with fresh dead shrimp, and stalked the pompano swimming about the crystal clear shallows.
What can I say? They had a blast, and in the end boated 28, yes, 28 of those tasty and hard fighting pompano. It was a remarkable day of angling, and my guests were just in awe of the incredible pompano angling off south Mississippi's mainland.
Plus, they were proud to have set the record for the most pompano in one day aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS this summer. Yep, they set the bar high, but that was truly a remarkable fun filled day of fishing in south Mississippi.
Thank you guys for your hard work at catching all those Florida pompano, and hope you have as much enjoyment eathing them as you did catching them.
Regards,
Capt. Robert L. Brodie of TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS
