Hordes of southern kingfish aka "ground mullet " moving in!

Mississippi Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report

GROUND MULLET & WHITE TROUT SHOWING UP NOW, & THE FLORIDA POMPANO & TRIPLETAIL SHOULD ARRIVE SOON TOO!

Ran a trip on Tuesday after a couple of days of hard westerly winds. Well, it had the shallows at the berrier islands all churned up, very turbid, and it made sight fishing for big redfish quite difficult.

Well, plan-B was then implemented, and soon my four clients were reeling in southern kingfish aka "ground mullet" or "whiting" one after another.

They were having trougle getting the hook setting down on the tasty bottom dwellers, but they did manage to box 61.

The thing was, winds died down and it warmed up, and they were just having fun kicking back and chilling out.

We left them biting good as the tide was starting to move very fast, and the folks had a blast catching these delicious frying fish.

Matter a fact, I scaled, filleted, and deboned them all, and one lady went home with 122 fillets ready for the hot grease.

By the way, roll these small fillets in yellow mustard coating them lightly, then roll them in Zatarain's Fish-Fri, and then toss them into hot grease quickly frying them golden brown.

Folks I am telling you, it will be some of the finest tasting fish you've put in your mouth. Soon the ground mullet and white trout will be invading our inshore waters, and a quick run from the launch will have you pulling in these tasty fish one after another.

Big fish...no...but on light tackle are fun to catch, and there are no limits on these fine eating fish.

Our coastal waters are loaded with oyster reefs and man-made fish haven for attracting these fish, and speckled trout, jack crevalle, redfish, small sharks, Spanish mackerel, and flounder will prowl the same reefs too.

Plus, on many outing fishing the reefs I'll be checking crab trap corks for tripletail basking on the surface, another very unique and delicious species.

All this month it has been top-notch sight fishing for the big redfish at the barrier islands, but anytime now all sorts of other fish are going to show up with voracious appetites, so book your trip now for another excellent summer of light tackle fishing aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS.

Oh yeah...be sure to book yourself a Florida pompano fishing trip aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS too, a small exotic species that fights like crazy, and is considered by many as one of the finest eating fish on the planet.

Hey, it's all good here in south Mississippi!

Regards and many thanks to all,

Capt. Robert L. Brodie
