Mississippi Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report

As of late, heavy winds have been whipping up the Mississippi Sound, and that's bad news considering we know plenty of fish are there for the taking.

The rubble/congrete reefs and oyster reefs are loaded with southern kingfish a.k.a. "ground mullet" and sand sea trout a.k.a. "white trout", but getting there is another factor.

Coastal rivers and bays have a heavy dose of rainwater, but fish can be found out front if these winds ever relent.

Made my first trial run to the Louisiana marsh just south of Pass Christian, MS last Sunday, and once again the strong easterly winds had the water churned and muddy.

However, late in the afternoon winds settled a bit, and we ended up with 5 nice redfish, 12 (14 to 19-inchs) speckled trout, and a 10-pound black drum.
Although these are Louisiana waters, I'll be gunning guided trips down there soon in my new 2170 Blazer Bay, and these are some magnificent fish filled waters. Posted are a few pics from last Sunday.
Wind...wind...go away! When this weather does settle the fishing will be superb, but until then we're at the mercy of Mother Nature. Until then keep it safe out there!
