Mississippi Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report

With my one man client aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS, Luke Dove from Jackson, MS it was off to the barrier islands.

On a cool and slick calm morning our first stop was over a deep water white trout reef. Once at the spot dolphin were swarming the area, and the fish recorder was simply lit up with clouds and layers of fish.

Dropping down bottom rigs baited with squid it was immediate fish catching action, and for an hour or so it was a fish on every drop. The fish were so hungry they were trying to swallow the weights, and we could witness this in the clear water below.

Just for kicks I attached a treble hook above the weight, and it resulted in two fish on every drop. Really cool stuff! Luke was in awe of the fish catching action, but this was just the beginning of a magnificent day of fishing in south Mississippi.

Pulling out of the fish on every drop bite, well, it was time to go in search of bigger fish, black drum and redfish. By the way, that first stop resulted in 114 really nice white trout!

Once on the isle's crystal clear flats fish were spotted everywhere. Schools of black drum were scattered about, but after a while we encountered a massive school of redfish coming our way, and soon we were surrounded by the mutant goldfish.

These fish were hungry, on the prowl, and eager to enfulf anything that crossed their path.Well, it was game on from that moment on, and once again Luke was being pushed to the limit with hard fighting barrier island spottails.

Easily caught our 2 man limit of reds, 6 fish, and released a couple of nice black drum and red in the fish catching melee too.

Now is the time for this world-class light tackle action so be sure to book a trip now. It's there for the taking as long as the weather is nice.

Luke had an ideal day of fishing aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS, and you can too by booking a trip now.

The fish are there for the taking, just need an angler or two to step up to the plate. Any gamers out there?

Regards and many thanks to all,

Capt. Robert L. Brodie of TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS
