Mississippi Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report

On Friday and Saturday I had the pleasure to guide three gentlemen from South Carolina to some epic barrier island fishing aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS.

DAY 1
On Friday a stop at Gulf Park Estates Reef resulted in 25 white trout and 3 big Spanish mackerel on popping corks. However, a run to the barrier islands led to 3 hours of non stop fish catching fun.

Within that short span, Joey Lewis, his brother Scott, and Nemo got into the Florida pompano, and followed up the action with redfish when suddenly hundreds of them were swarming around the boat.

A number of big reds were lost on the light 10-pound-test, but in the end they managed to land 5 on the light gear. As far as the pompano goes, well, when it was over 22 of those tasty beautied filled the ice chest to the brim.

An ideal trip with some magnificent weather to make it all happen. But that wasn't enough for these 3 anglers, and we were back to the islands again on Saturday.

DAY 2
Started out once again catching pompano and plenty of the high-leaping ladyfish and bluefish. On and off was the bite on pompano, but the redfish gave the anglers two more shots on this day also. At one point they had fish on every line, and we were surrounded by hundreds of starving redfish. A wonderful sight to behold!

When the fishing flury ended their tally for this day was 24 Florida pompano and 6 bull reds. Some brutes were lost once again, but they managed to land some good eating size fish.

In all, two magnificent days of light tackle fishing aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS, and if this mild weather continues look for the hot bite to remain constant.

Regards,
Capt. Robert L. Brodie of TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS.
