Mississippi Sound & the Pascagoula River Marsh

Capt. Barry Brown
August 21, 2005
Pascagoula River - Saltwater Fishing Report

Hot Days Bring Hot Top Water Action

Temperatures have been in the mid 90's every day making it a little unpleasant after about 10 in the morning. But, toughing it out is worth it if you like big redfish blowups on top water plugs.

The reds are still stalking schools of large mullet in the lakes. All we are having to do is keep moving and keep plugs in the water and the reds take care of the rest. These reds are running in the 7 to 12 pound range.

We have started seeing schools of small specled trout in the inland bayous; a sign that fall is just around the corner. The specks are feeding on the juvenile shrimp that hatched out in the marshes this season.

The bigger speckled trout are still near the mouth of the river. They will move up river and into the marshes starting in September. Don't miss out on it!
