Mississippi Sound & the Pascagoula River Marsh

Capt. Barry Brown
December 1, 2005
Pascagoula River - Saltwater Fishing Report

Still Good Numbers of Specks and Reds

We are still catching good numbers of specks and reds on artificial cocahoes and top water lures. The specks are a little larger on average than in my last report. They are running around 16" average right now.

The specks are still easy to find by watching the gulls, but we have some secret spots that the birds don't even know about. Those spots have a lot of structure on the bottom that hold the fish.

Our best catches of reds are with live pogy still, but you can do pretty well on reds with artificial if you work at it. The live pogy are not as plentiful as they were in early November.

The weather has been great with some cool mornings and mild afternoons. It's a comfortable and productive time of year to be out fishing.
