Mississippi Sound & the Pascagoula River Marsh

Capt. Barry Brown
October 4, 2006
Pascagoula River - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fall Trout Pattern Officially Here

The speckled trout have infiltrated the river marshes in large numbers and right on schedule. Early morning and late evening are, as usual, their best feeding times. Top water lures are working well in the mornings, but the live bait has been the best in the evenings.

The trout are averaging 17" in length. That's a little above the normal average in years past. You can load up a box full of nice ones this time of year.

The reds are feeding in the same areas with the trout, and we catch a few to several of them while speck fishing. The reds are still plentiful around the flats, so if you want reds it's pretty easy to find a limit of them.

If you have been putting off a trip waiting for the best time, now is the time!
