Mississippi Sound & the Pascagoula River Marsh

Capt. Barry Brown
May 12, 2007
Pascagoula River - Saltwater Fishing Report

Live Bait Producing Good Catches

We are still using top water lures early in the morning, and still are catching some good trout on them. But, we are switching to live bait to catch the bulk of our reds and specks.

Live cocohoe minnows are attracting reds, specks, and flounder in several of our favorite holes. Last week we had a 10 speck catch with a 3.5 pound average. That box of fish also included some nice reds.

The flounder are moving in to their regular holes where they wait to ambush bait moving with the current. You can catch a dozen or so flounder in a single spot when conditions are right.
