Mississippi Sound & the Pascagoula River Marsh

Capt. Barry Brown
October 9, 2007
Pascagoula River - Saltwater Fishing Report

Redfish Schooling With A Few Big Trout

Finally we are finding signs of the fall migration of reds and specks into their normal holes. We struggled early Saturday, but toward the end of our trip we found a big school of reds. These reds are between 24 and 30 inches; some nice fish and a big pull.

The live pogy are migrating out of the river now, but we have been fortunate to find enough of them to make a trip. We are also using some cocohoe minnows and shrimp with good success.

Sunday we went back to the spot where we caught the reds on Saturday and limited out in an hour. We also caught a few 4 pound trout mixed in.

As a bonus there are some good numbers of flounder being caught now.

Apparently the lull we have been living with the last two months is over. We should start to see greater numbers of trout any time now.
