Table Rock in Branson, MO Fishing Report

Capt. Eric Prey
September 11, 2011
Table Rock - Freshwater Fishing Report

Lake - Table Rock
9/11/11:
Kimberling City Area: Cooler weather continues to drop water temperatures throughout the lake. Cooler water has fish moving shallower, smallmouth have begun to move shallow on gravel and mixed rock and gravel points through out the lake. Jewel football jigs and Chompers tubes have been very productive on flat shallow points close to deeper water in the mid lake. Fish are holding fifteen to twenty five feet deep close to any cover on the point, work the baits slowly along the bottom to draw strikes.

James River: The shallow crankbait bite has really turned on in the upper reaches of the James and Flat Creek in the past week, RC crankbaits and other square bills have been very effective for numbers and quality, laydowns and stumps on mudflats are producing, bump crankbaits into the cover to draw strikes. Jewel football jigs continue to produce on deeper points further down stream, look for gravel and mixed rock points near channel swings, work jigs from shallow to deep slowly along the bottom.

White River: Smallmouth have moved up in the lower White River as well; shallow gravel points near deep water have been producing much like the mid lake area. Spotted bass are moving into deeper brush piles twenty five to thirty five feet deep on these same points. Locate brush piles with electronics and drop Chompers or ROBO dropshot worms into the piles to draw strikes. Pay close attention to the LCD display when a fish is hooked, multiple fish will come out of the brush and give a great idea how many are holding in the pile. The fall spinnerbait bite is still a few weeks away but a few better largemouth have been caught out of cedar tops in the past week, much like musky fishing it takes about 1000 casts to draw a strike right now.

Dam Area: Boat traffic has been minimal over the past week, kids are back and school and most of the vacationers have left the area making the lower end much more fishable than recent weeks. Just like the mid lake smallmouth are on the move in the dam area, gravel points near deeper water are producing with Jewel football or spider jigs, Squirrel heads and Chomper tubes will produce in these locals. Drop shotting brushpiles twenty five to thirty five feet deep on these same points will produce spotted bass throughout the day as well.
