Table Rock - Freshwater Fishing Report

Lake - Table Rock
9/26/11:
Kimberling City Area: Rain over the past week has added quite a bit of color to the water throughout the lake, surface temperatures continue to drop with average temps hovering in the low seventies. The bite has been very good early and late on a few baits; Chompers McCutchen spinnerbaits and deep crankbaits continue to be very good during the first hour or so of the day. Mixed gravel and rock points have been prime areas. As the sun rises, switch to a Jewel Football jig in PB&J or brown purple both with a twin tail grub trailer.
James River: The James River continues to be strong; the upper reaches of the James and Flat creek are producing numbers and a few quality fish on shallow crankbaits near visible cover. RC and Bandit crankbaits worked tight to stumps and laydowns has been very productive. Further downstream Jewel Football jigs and Carolina rigged brush hogs are producing on main lake gravel points near deep water.
White River: Much like the mid lake area the lower portion of the White has developed a spinnerbait bite early in the day, mixed rock and gravel points with isolated cover have been the best locations. Jewel football jigs and Chompers tubes will produce on these same points once the sun rises. Drop shotting deep brush piles and tree tops has also been effective in the Baxter area; Chompers and ROBO drop shot worms in brush thirty to thirty five feet deep will produce numbers and some surprising quality.
Dam Area: The shallow bite has wane a bit over the past week, fish can still be caught less than twenty feet deep in the first hour of the day but the bite goes away as soon as the sun comes up. Chompers tubes and Jewel jigs are both great choices during this first hour. Once the sun rises switch to drop shot rig and move out to 28 – 33 feet deep on gravel points. Locate the fish on electronics and work them until they bite.
