Kimberling City Area: The bite remains pretty tough in the mid lake. The most consistent bite has been on main lake and secondary points with a combination of lures; Jewel football jigs and Squirrel heads have been producing from 10' – 15' deep early and late with schools of fish moving up feed during low light conditions, Chompers McCutchen spinnerbaits have been productive on windy or cloudy days and Chompers Webb Tail spoons will work around larger docks throughout the day.
James River: The James has been producing a lot of bites any give day of the week; the problem has been finding quality fish. Jewel jigs, Chompers spinnerbaits and RC crankbaits are all producing from Cape Fair through the upper river, a limit can be caught but finding quality fish has been a struggle. The flat banks in the upper portion of the river and Flat creek seems to be the most productive area, concentrate on wood cover on flat banks.
White River: The topwater bite is still pretty good early and late on the White River primarily above Campbell Point on main lake and secondary gravel points and flats. The fish here have been suspended over any depth, using shad for cover and a food source, watch for surface activity and make multiple casts to be effective. Jewel football and squirrel heads have been effective here as well concentrate your efforts on deep water close to the point.
Dam Area: The lower end remains the toughest end of the lake, there is a drop shot bite in deep trees or brush piles but you will need to weed through a lot of short fish to find a keeper. Jewel football jigs, Chompers tubes and Jewel Squirrel heads are productive on rocky main lake and secondary points through out the dam area, once a few fish are caught stay in that area as the fish appear to be grouped on specific points. Up Long creek the shallow crankbait bite is still the ticket.
