Kimberling City Area: Moderate temperatures and warm rain have kept water temps in the low 50's in the mid lake area. The shallow wiggle wart bite continues to produce good quality fish on windy or cloudy days, you need to make several casts per fish but the work is worth it. Concentrate on chunk rock banks and points with a mix of ledge and gravel. The deep bite continues to impress, fish seem to be holding shallower over the past week with the best bite around 35' over top of deep trees.
James River: The bite has slowed some over the past week with cooler water temps, fish can still be caught on wiggle warts and Jewel jigs on steeper banks through out the river. Transition areas and ledges are best; on windy days parallel the bank with the crankbait on calm days fish from shallow to deep with a jig. Crappie fishing has picked up around Cape Fair; steep banks with standing timber have been the best locations, 2" grubs and swimmin' minnows on an eighth ounce head has been the most productive fished close to timber.
White River: The White River arm continues to produce fish deep or shallow. Look for schools of shad holding around tree tops in the middle of creeks, most of the fish will be suspended around 35' – 45' deep over as much as 100' of water, look for schools of shad holding close to the trees and the fish won't be far away. Chompers' Webb Tail spoons, single tailed grubs and ice jigs have been the most productive presentations. Shallow fish are on main lake and secondary rocky points, wiggle warts and Bandit 300's have been very effective targeting these fish. Make 45 degree casts to the bank to draw strikes.
Dam Area: The deep bite remains the dominate pattern on the lower end, Chompers Webb Tail spoons, grubs and ice jigs are all top choices. Look for schools of shad to and fish won't be far away. Most of the fish are suspending in the middle of larger creeks holding close to tree tops 35' – 50' deep. When a fish is located on your electronics drop to it immediately as other will be close by. Further up Long creek the shallow wiggle wart and Jewel jig bite has been very good, steep rocky banks and points are key areas.
