Kimberling City Area: It's beginning to sound like a broken record; umbrella rigs continue to be the most dominate pattern on the mid lake. Most anglers are having success on steeper chunk rock and mixed ledge and rock points with isolated timber. Fish are coming as shallow as five feet deep to as deep as 40', once the depth the fish are suspend at is determined it is simply a matter of counting the rig down and making a steady slow retrieve to get bit. Zoom flukes and swimmin' flukes have been the best bait on the rig if you can find any; if not any three to five inch swimbait will work.
James River: The James continues to produce big fish on an umbrella rig. The same locations that are holding fish in the mid lake area will hold them in the James. There are a couple of other patterns starting to emerge on the river as well; SPRO MCStick jerkbaits have been producing quality fish on rocky points when an A-Rig won't. Work the bait with relatively short pauses on timbered rocky points and bluff end to draw strikes Jewel finesse flippin' jigs worked around flooded wood trash on bluff pockets has been very effective as well, make multiple pitches to shady areas in the cover to draw strikes.
White River: Just like the rest of the lake the White River is dominated by Umbrella rigs; rocky main lake and secondary points with isolated timber have been the best locations. Make long casts, allow the bait to sink to the desired depth and retrieve the rig slowly. The deep bite turned back on last week as well; large schools of spotted bass are holding in deep tree tops ambushing schools of passing shad. Chompers Webb Tail Spoons and Drop shot worms have been the most effective presentations.
Dam Area: The deep bite is still the most effective way to put fish in the boat on the lower end; Webb Tail Spoons and Chompers Drop Shot worms are still very effective on suspended spotted bass throughout the main lake and in the larger creek arms. The Umbrella rig bite has begun to catch on in the lower end over the last week as well. The same general locations and baits that are effective in the rivers have been working by the dam. The dock bite remains strong on the lower end as well; large community docks are producing big smallmouth on Eakins jig and Craw combos.
