Table Rock - Freshwater Fishing Report

Kimberling City Area: The mid lake area has really broken loose over the past week. Several fish have moved up and are feeding on a variety of baits. Far and away the most productive bait continues to be a Chompers four inch single tail grub fished on a quarter ounce head, look for windy points near spawning areas to be the most productive. Most of the fish are still suspending so cast the bait toward the shore, count it down to around ten feet and begin a moderate retrieve. Several fish are still coming on stick baits; SPRO McSticks and Mega Bass Vision 110's are accounting for most of the fish on windy, shallow, flat points.
James River: The James River has turned on over the past week; fish are beginning to move toward spawning pockets in mass with males cruising spawning pockets and flats looking to begin building beds. Males can be caught shallow on a combination of baits; Jewel Eakins jig and craw combos in PB&J or Missouri craw with a green pumpkin trailer, Chompers Ultra Tubes in green pumpkin and black and blue and split shot rigs with green pumpkin fish doctors and french fries have all been productive patterns to numbers of fish in the boat. Better females are still staged on main lake and secondary points near the spawning areas; Jewel Football jigs, Chompers Spinnerbaits and wiggle warts are all working on these staged fish, target six to ten feet deep early with a spinnerbait and wiggle wart and fifteen to twenty later in the day with a football jig.
White River: The White river continues to produce fish; from Baxter to Campbell point single tail grubs on quarter ounce heads fished on windy gravel points have been lights out, in the creek arms Jewel Squirrel Heads with finesse worms on secondary points near spawning areas have been producing staging males and females, while Chompers spinnerbaits and wiggle warts have been more effective toward the backs of creeks. From Campbell point to Eagle Rock the grub bite has been solid, stick baits are still effective in staging areas and a Jewel Football jig will produce on main lake and secondary points. The Kings River has really heated up over the past week; wiggle warts, Chompers Spinnerbaits and Eakins jigs have all been producing in and around spawning pockets. There are a few males that have built beds over the past week; females should be moving in to spawn within a week.
Dam Area: The lower end broke loose this past week; windy main lake and secondary points are holding fish that can be caught on a four inch single tail grub, split shot rig or Jewel Football jig. Flatter gravel and mixed gravel and rock points have been the most productive, look for points leading to spawning banks and coves to be holding staging males and females. Further up Long Creek fish are very close to spawning, males are cruising the banks looking for spawning locations with some building beds already. The better females are still staged in deeper water close by, look for points and drops close to a spawning are to be holding several fish. For the males Chompers spinnerbaits, Eakins jigs and tubes have all been effective, the staged females can be caught on wiggle warts, Jewel Football jigs and Carolina rigs.
