Table Rock Lake in Branson, MO 5/20 Fishing Report

Capt. Eric Prey
June 20, 2010
Table Rock - Freshwater Fishing Report

Lake - Table Rock
6/20/10:
Kimberling City Area: The shallow bite is still there in the mid lake area but the majority of fish have moved into a little deeper water over the past week. Look for fish on gravel points and flats from ten to twenty feet deep easting both crawdads and shad. Jewel football and spider jigs in green pumpkin / green flash and PB&J with a green pumpkin twin tail have been very effective. Further out on these points schools of spotted bass can be found holding tight to the bottom from twenty five to thirty five feet deep, drop shot Chompers or Robo worms drop shot worms in brown purple laminate, plum and MM IIII. The summer dock bite has also started to evolve; Eakins jig and craw combos fished on shady areas of docks will produce.

James River: Summer patterns are in full swing up the James River; deep diving crankbaits, ten inch worms and Jewel football jigs will produce fish from Aunts creek to Asher Cain. DD 22's and Fat Free Shad crankbaits on gravel roll off points, bluff pockets and humps will produce fish, this can be timing issue, fish move up on these locals to feet and retreat to deep water in schools, if the location produces stay on it if not, come back later and try again. The same roll offs will produce with a Jewel Football jig in brown purple flash and Missouri craw both with a green pumpkin J tail trailer, work the jig from shallow to deep and pay close attention to the bait as it falls off the roll off. Ten inch Berkley Power worms in plum or red shad worked through brush and rock piles on points has produced heavy fish over the past week.

White River: Any numbers of patterns have been effective up the White and Kings Rivers this past week. Much like the James River there is a good deep crankbait and football jig bite on gravel roll offs, humps and bluff pockets. The deep trees from Baxter to Campbell point are holding schools of spotted bass that can be caught on drop shot rigged Chompers and Robo worms or white spoons. Further up the White and in the Kings River a shallow crankbait bite has emerged in the backs of creeks and on gravel flats. Look for schools of shad near wood or rock cover and throw Lucky Craft RC crankbaits in and around the cover.

Dam Area: The dam area has been a little tougher over the past week; the amount of boat traffic after ten o'clock has increased and fishing main lake points and humps is getting difficult. Drop shot rigs and spoons continue to be the most productive option; look for schools of spotted bass to be holding from twenty five to thirty five feet deep on gravel points and flats and can be caught on Chompers and Robo drop shot worms on the bottom. A Jewel football jig, spider jig or Squirrel head will also produce early in the day on gravel and rock mixed points in larger creek arms throughout the lower end.
