Table Rock - Freshwater Fishing Report

Lake - Table Rock
11/21/10:
Kimberling City Area: Fall is in full swing in the Ozarks. Fish are beginning to group up and move shallow following shad and other forage to the bank. Chompers tubes and Jewel Squirrel Heads continue to be important presentations; tubes have been effective on shallow gravel points for smallmouth, green pumpkin and amber are the best colors fished on a quarter ounce head. Jewel Squirrel heads with baby brush hogs fished on steeper rocky points are producing largemouth in the bigger creek arms; look for banks with a good mix of gravel, chunk rock and large rock to be the most productive.
James River: Up the James the fall bite is in full swing; Chompers tubes and Jewel Squirrel Heads are important but fast moving reaction lures are out pacing slow presentations. Chompers McCutchen spinner baits in chartreuse shad have been extremely good around shallow cover; large rock and wood cover less than ten feet deep will produce both numbers and quality. Work the bait around the cover paying close attention to shady areas on sunny days. Storm Wiggle Warts have come on strong over the past week; look for steep banks with chunk rock to be the most productive and parallel banks five to ten feet deep.
White River: The same patterns that are working on the mid lake area will work from Baxter to Shell Knob, shallow gravel points with a Chompers tube and Jewel Squirrel heads on steeper rock will produce numbers and quality. Further up stream Wiggle Warts and Jewel Football jigs seem to be more productive, on cloudy or windy days parallel steep banks with a wiggle wart on both the main lake and in creek arms, if it is sunny and calm back off and work Jewel three eighth or half ounce football jigs from the bank to twenty feet deep.
Dam Area: The smallmouth bite continues to be fantastic on the lower end of the lake. Shallow gravel points and flats worked with Chompers tubes can produce fish all day long right now. Look for long tapering points with a decent drop on either side to be the most productive. The deep bite has not fully materialized as of this week; shad are beginning to group up in the middle of creek arms and there are a few fish below them but these fish have not been aggressively feeding. As the water cools into the lower fifties this will become a dominate pattern on the lower end.
