Table Rock Lake in Branson, MO Fishing Report

Capt. Eric Prey
December 7, 2010
Table Rock - Freshwater Fishing Report

Lake - Table Rock
12/5/10:
Kimberling City Area: A couple of more cold fronts passing through the area last week have dropped water temperatures to the low to mid fifties. With the cooler water shad and in turn bass are on the shallows. Smallmouth can be caught on Jewel Squirrel heads with finesse worms and Chompers tubes on quarter ounce heads. Look for long tapering gravel points in larger creeks to be the most productive. Largemouth are holding on steeper banks with large and small rock mixed. Storm wiggle warts and Chompers spinnerbaits will take these fish two to ten feet deep.

James River: The river bite has turned on over the past week; sunny days with wind have been best, the dirtier water warms quickly in the shallows and fish move up quickly to feed throughout the day. Eakins jig and craw combos, wiggle warts and Chompers spinnerbaits are all producing in the warm shallow water. Pitch the jig and craw to shallow cover concentrating on shady areas around the cover. Work wiggle warts around steeper rocky banks maintaining bottom contact throughout the retrieve. On particularly windy days work Chompers McCutchen spinnerbaits close to wood cover to draw strikes.

White River: Pick the way you would like to catch fish in the White River right now. If you like smallmouth throw Chompers tubes or Jewel Squirrel head on flat gravel points five to fifteen feet deep. If you prefer to fish deep a War Eagle spoon in tree tops thirty to fifty feet deep in most of the creek arms from Baxter to Eagle Rock will produce quantity and quality spotted bass. Rocky points and channel banks fished with a wiggle wart of Chompers spinnerbait will produce some very nice largemouth right now.

Dam Area: The dam area has some distinct patterns in play right now; gravel flats and points will produce smallmouth while large docks are holding a mixed bag of fish. Jewel Squirrel heads and Chompers tubes are producing some really nice smallmouth right now on flat gravel points on both the main lake and in the larger creeks. Work the bait slowly along the bottom from five to fifteen feet deep to draw strikes. Fish large commercial docks with an Eakins jig and craw combo or a Squirrel head with a finesse worm. Make pitches to the walkway in the middle of the dock and feed line until the bait hits the bottom to be successful.
