Table Rock Lake in Branson, MO Fishing Report

Capt. Eric Prey
February 13, 2011
Table Rock - Freshwater Fishing Report

Lake - Table Rock
2/13/11:
Kimberling City Area: Access continued to be an issue through this past weekend, the best ramps in the mid lake over the weekend were Ahoys (The ramp is clear but parking was limited and most anglers parked in the condo lot) and Aunts Creek lower ramp. The bite has remained the same with three patterns dominating most of the action; stickbaits, spoons and jigs. SPRO McSticks fished around isolated cover on channel swing banks is producing strikes form quality fish, any areas where there are dieing shad are the best producers. Jewel Eakins and football jigs with Eakins craws have been productive in these same areas, look for the portion where the channel swings away from the bank to be the most productive. Finally, War Eagle spoons fished in the center of larger creeks near schools of shad will produce numbers and quality spotted bass.

James River: The ice that had formed in the upper James was mostly broken up by Sunday afternoon, above Cape Fair there was still some ice on the lake so caution is imperative in the upper James. The lower ramp at Aunts creek is still your best option, the lot has not been plowed but there has been enough traffic to make the ramp accessible. The bite in the James is similar to the mid lake area; SPRO McSticks and Jewel jigs are the best option around isolated pieces of cover on steeper banks. The deep bite has been best in the Aunts Creek area, the bigger creeks and the main lake have both been productive with a War Eagle spoon.

White River: Access has improved on the White River, Shell knob is open, Baxter has had enough traffic to make I usable but the ramp is steep and can be hard to pull out, further up stream ice can be an issue, most of the ice above Eagle Rock has broken up but caution should be taken. Across the board the bite remains similar to the rest of the lake, Stickbaits, Jewel Jigs and War Eagle spoons continue to be the most effective patterns. A slightly different spoon pattern has developed on the main lake around the Shell Knob area; look for large community docks on steep banks to be holding schools of Spotted bass, on sunny afternoons the fish are holding in shady areas and will strike the bait on the initial fall.

Dam Area: State Park remains the best access on the lower end but a lot of work was done at Indian point and it is open. Just like the rest of the lake the bite boils down to three patterns; jig, stickbait and spoon. For numbers of fish a War Eagle spoon worked around deep tree tops close to the main channel of larger creek arms, any shad located on electronics will increase the number of fish caught. Jewel Eakins jig and craw combos fished in last channel swing of a creek has been very effective, look for areas of run off near the channel swing to hold the most fish. SPRO McSticks fished around isolated cedar tree on steeper banks in larger creeks have been producing quality largemouth.
