Table Rock - Freshwater Fishing Report

Lake - Table Rock
6/6/11:
Kimberling City Area: The water flow through Table Rock dam was slowed over the weekend allowing water levels to stabilize slightly driving fish a little shallower over the weekend despite the high temperatures. Jewel Spider jigs with J Tail trailers and Chompers Ultra tubes are mainstays right now look for pea gravel points and flats to be the most productive with most fish coming from ten to twenty feet deep. Early and late there is a very good topwater bite; spooks sammys and red fins are the most productive baits, look for surface activity to clue you in to fish locations.
James River: With water level stabilization the James has been very productive over the pat few days, quality fish have move shallow into the flooded brush and can be caught on Jewel Eakins jig and craw combos and Texas rigged Chompers Wild Hogs. Look for isolated brush and pole timber to be the most productive and pay close attention to shady areas around cover. Topwater baits have been very productive up the James as well, add a buzzbait to the mix and you will have a lethal combination early and late.
White River: Just like the rest of the lake the White and Kings Rivers have benefited by the slow down in current; gravel points and flats are still producing with Jewel Spider Jigs and Chompers Tubes, flooded brush is producing with baits pitched to isolated cover and topwater during low light conditions have all been key. Large schools of white bass have been surfacing through out the day in the White River from Baxter to Shell Knob, Skitter Pop and Pop R's have been producing while the fish are on top and a half ounce white spoon will produce when the surface action subsides.
Dam Area: The smallmouth bite continues to be impressive on the lower end, Chompers tubes and Jewel Spider Jig and J Tail trailer combos continue to be the top offerings. Look for gravel points and flats and work them from ten to twenty feet deep cover as much of the point as possible on every cast. Much like the White River there have been large schools of White Bass surfacing throughout the day on the lower end, topwater and spoons have been the best methods to catch these fish.
