Table Rock Lake in Branson, MO Fishing Report

Capt. Eric Prey
June 20, 2011
Table Rock - Freshwater Fishing Report

Lake - Table Rock
6/20/11:
Kimberling City Area: The Corps have been running water off and on throughout the day to meet electrical requirements vs. flood control over the past week. Lake levels have essentially settled around 925 holding the lake around ten feet above power pool. Largemouth have moved into bushes throughout the mid lake, Texas rigged Chompers Salty Sinkers and Wild hogs have been great options for fish in the bushes, concentrate on shady areas near the center of an isolated bush to draw strikes.

James River: The James River really turned on over the past week; there is a good flipping bite in isolated flooded cover on gravel flats and points in creek arms and on the main lake. Early and late a decent buzz bait bite is starting to take shape in these same areas, smaller eighth or quarter ounce baits with chartreuse in the skirt have been more effective than large ones. While not a reliable pattern yet deep crankbaits are starting produce fish on roll offs and channel drops in the upper James. DD 22's and Strike King crankbaits are producing when fish move up to feed.

White River: The White River remained strong as well despite the heat of last week; shallow fish can be caught flippin and pitching Salty Sinkers and Wild Hogs, deeper fish are being caught on Jewel Football jig and J Tail trailer combos and the drop shot bite is starting produce a schools of spotted bass move into their summer haunts. On gravel points and drops from flats Jewel football jigs will produce numbers and quality right on the drop, Carolina rigged finesse worms with a Jewel Rock sinker will work here as well. Twenty five to thirty feet deep in these same areas will produce with Chompers drop shot worms worked along the bottom.

Dam Area: The smallmouth bite is starting to wane a little with the reduction of current over the past week; several quality fish continue to be caught on gravel points and saddles with Jewel Squirrel heads and Chompers ultra tubes worked on the bottom fifteen to twenty five feet deep. Spotted bass are being caught on the ends of gravel points and drops off of flats with Chompers drop shot worms on a drop shot rig. Look for fish holding close to the bottom in twenty five to thirty feet of water through out the lower end.
