Table Rock - Freshwater Fishing Report

Lake - Table Rock
6/26/11:
Kimberling City Area: The Corps continues to run water as generation needs require, dropping the lake about a foot and a half over the past week. The on again off again current has the bite changing through out the day, with fishing moving up on points while current is running and sliding into shallow brush when current goes slack. While out on points Chompers tubes and Jewel spider or football jigs have been productive for smallmouth and spotted bass, work the baits along the bottom twelve to twenty five feet deep to be effective. During slack current pitch Chompers salty sinkers and Jewel jigs to flooded cover.
James River: The bite up the James has come on strong over the past week, several top finishers in the recent PAA event spent most of their time in the James River concentrating on flooded shallow cover. Texas rigged Chompers Magnum Hawg worms fished tight to shallow cover will produce both numbers and quality fish. Pay close attention to any shady areas around the cover as they will be most productive. Out on main lake points a Jewel football jig is hard to beat right now, work PB&J or Brown Purple Flash jigs on deep edges of gravel points to draw strikes from fish feeding in the current.
White River: The White River Arm has been the most versatile area of the lake to fish; shallow or deep fish can be caught from Baxter to Eagle Rock on a variety of techniques. Deep anglers are catching fish on Chompers Drop Shot worms worked along the bottom on gravel points twenty five to thirty five feet deep. Most of the fish will appear briefly on electronics, once hooked the bottom will explode with numbers of spotted bass. Main lake and large creek arm points will produce with Jewel football or Spider jigs matched with j tail trailers. Work deeper sides of points fifteen to twenty five feet deep to draw strikes. Flooded bushes and other cover are holding largemouth through out the White and Kings Rivers. Chompers Magnum Hawg worms and Jewel jigs with Paca trailers are will catch these fish.
Dam Area: The shallow bite is beginning to wane slightly on the lower end, smallmouth and spotted bass are still being caught on main lake gravel points but as the water warms and lake levels drop the bite is becoming tougher. Early and late in the day has been best on points with Chompers tubes and Jewel spider jigs fifteen to twenty five feet deep. The drop shot bite has come on strong as schools of spotted bass have move out on points and are holding twenty five to forty feet deep, Chompers drop shot worms in plum and brown purple have been the best colors.
