Table Rock - Freshwater Fishing Report

Lake - Table Rock
7/11/11:
Kimberling City Area: Water temperatures continue to rise as the lake level falls due to power generation needs. With falling water levels the shallow bite has begun to wane and the deep bite has become more important. Chompers drop shot worms on a drop shot rig have become a mainstay twenty five to thirty five feet deep on gravel points. Use your electronics to find fish holding tight to the bottom and drop the rig directly in front of them. Jewel Football Jigs are also working in these areas; PB&J with a J tail trailer has been effective for both smallmouth and spots.
James River: The best shallow bite continues to be up the James River. Texas rigged ten and twelve inch worms worked around drops and standing timber five to fifteen feet deep will produce numbers and quality. Look for areas with deep water close by to be the most productive. Shallow crankbaits have been relatively productive on shallow flats in the backs of creeks; work the bait in and around shallow cover to be effective. The deep crankbait bite is in full swing up the river as well; roll offs and swings with rock and brush piles are prime locations.
White River: Versatility continues to be the theme on the White River: deep or shallow fish are being caught from Baxter to Eagle Rock. Shallow anglers are finding success with Texas rigged big worms in flooded cover near deep water; Chompers Magnum Hawgs have been a key bait. Anglers throwing Jewel football jigs are finding success fifteen to twenty five deep on main lake and secondary points on smallmouth and spots. Deep anglers are doing well with Chompers drop shot worms fished in tree tops toping out around thirty feet.
Dam Area: The Deep bite continues to dominate the lower end. Drop shot rigs with Plum or Brown Purple Chompers drop shot worms worked along the bottom on main lake and secondary gravel points twenty five to thirty five feet deep have been producing mixed bags of smallmouth and spots. Deep tree tops are producing spots from twenty to thirty feet deep over top of as much as sixty. Further up long creek there is a very good shallow bite on big worms and Jewel jigs, look for shallow cover near deep water to out produce most other areas.
