Lake - Table Rock
7/25/11:
Kimberling City Area: Work is being done on the Power Site dam on Taneycomo so generation and current have been shut down on Table Rock to allow the work to be completed. Before shutting off the water Table Rock lake level had dropped to 918.5 only a couple of feet above norm summer pool, stabilized water levels have allow fish to move up into shallow flooded bushes. The flipping bite has been stronger in the mid lake and up in the river arms; Jewel jigs and Chompers worms have both been effective baits around flooded brush.
James River: Two main patterns have developed over the past week with the water shut down; shallow flipping and deep cranking have been the dominate patterns with fish holding in flooded brush sallow and on rock or brush piles with a deep crankbait. Jewel J Lock jigs with Paca craws have been a great bait in and around flood buses and laydowns from Cape Fair on up the river, concentrate on shady areas of the cover to draw strikes. Gravel roll offs and points have been holding fish through out the James, target brush and rock piles with DD 22's and Rapala DT 16's making contact with the cover to draw strikes.
White River: Shallow fish are being caught in flooded brush through out the White and Kings Rivers, Jewel Jigs and Chompers tubes have been the best baits around the cover. Fish are also being caught in a mid depth rage around twenty feet deep; Jewel Football jigs, Chompers Wobble Head football jigs and Carolina rigged brush hogs have all been effective for these fish. Look for gravel roll off points and work from deep to shallow to draw strikes from these fish.
Dam Area: The lower end of the lake has been the most challenging area of the lake. There is a deep bite on gravel points with fish coming off the bottom 45 – 55 feet deep, ROBO worms and Chompers drop shot worms have been the most effective baits. Work the bait on the bottom paying close attention to your electronics for any sign of fish or bait. Early and late there is a short lived top water bite around schools of shad; watch for schooling fish and work spooks or sammys around the school to draw strikes.
