Kimberling City: The move to a summer pattern is almost complete. Fish have moved deep over the past week with the best bite 25' – 35' deep on gravel point on the main lake and in larger creek arms. Drop shot rigged Chompers and UV Tightlines worms in and around brush and rock cover in these depths has been the most predictable pattern, look for fish holding in and around the cover and drop baits to waiting fish. Early and late there has been a good topwater bite in these same locals, watch for schooling fish and cast spooks and sammies.
James River: The best shallow bite is up the James River, while several fish have moved deep over the past week there are still a lot of fish holding in less than 10' deep around shoreline cover. Chompers spinnerbaits, buzzbaits and shallow crankbaits are working in and around shallow cover particularly early and late in the day. Once the sun rises high in the sky the bite transitions a little deeper; Jewel football jigs with J Tail trailers worked on drops and around brush piles 10' – 20' deep have been very effective. Look for deeper cover close to deep water to be the best locations.
White River: The White River is the most diverse part of the lake right now. Topwater early and late is producing a mixed bag of spotted bass and white bass, watch for surface activity and cast spooks and sammies to schooling fish. Deep fish are being caught on drop shot rigged Chompers, ROBO and Tightlines worms in and around deep cover 25' – 40' deep on main lake and secondary points. A Jewel football jig worked slowly along mixed gravel and rock points can result in some of the biggest fish of the day.
Dam Area: The deep bite continues to out produce other presentations on the lower end. Drop shot rigs with Chompers, ROBO and Tightlines worms will produce in and around deep brush and rock piles 30' deep or more. Fish are beginning to suspend in and around tree tops on the lower end as well, look for trees that top out around 30' in the middle of large creek arms to be the most productive, use drop shot rigs in the tree tops to draw strikes. Random schools of white bass continue to surface early in the day, they are hard to predict so have a ½ oz. Webb tail spoon at the ready.
