Kimberling City: With water temps in the upper 70's to mid 80's summer patterns are in full swing; fish have made the move into deep brush piles and positioned themselves on deep points throughout the mid lake. A couple of summer patterns have taken hold and continue to produce; dragging Jewel Football jigs and Carolina rigged plastics are one of the most dominate patterns for largemouth and smallmouth. Work either presentation slowly along the bottom from 15' – 25' deep on the sides of main lake and secondary points in larger creek arms. Drop shotting Chompers, ROBO and Tightlines UV worms in and around brush piles on these same points from 25' – 35' deep to catch spotted bass.
James River: There is still a fairly strong shallow bite in the James River. Gravel pockets loaded with wood cover have been the most productive areas and a variety of baits will produce throughout the day. Early buzzbaits will work around the cover until the sun rises; work the bait as close to the cover as possible and make multiple casts from different angles to draw strikes. Once the sun comes up switch to a Jewel Pro Spider jig with a Paca Craw trailer and flip shady spots around the wood cover or Texas rigged plastics in and around the cover.
White River: Some of the best fishing is on the White River right now; early and late there is a strong topwater bite on main lake and secondary points, throw spooks and sammies to schooling fish to draw strikes. As the day wears on switch up to Jewel football jigs and Carolina rigged Tightlines beavers, work both baits along the bottom from 15' – 25' deep. Drop shot worms on gravel main lake points from 25' – 35' deep is producing some really nice spotted bass right now, Tightlines UV , Chompers and Yamamoto worms have been top producers.
Dam Area: Deep fishing is the best way to catch fish on the lower end right now. Drop shot rigs with Chompers, ROBO and Tightlines UV worms have been your best bet for over a week. Look for brush and rock piles on main lake and secondary points 25' – 40' to be the most productive spots. Up Long Creek there is a very good deep crankbait bite starting; look for brush and rock piles on gravel point to be holding most of the fish, make casts from a variety of angles to draw strikes from fish holding in cover 10' – 15' deep.
